Ice9 wiki (Richard's digital stuff)

Welcome to Richard White's portal! ¹⁾

This is intended to be a partial replica of the wiki on Crinum and Drimia, with some namespaces only readable by users who are logged in. Much remains to be done!

This wiki also serves as a test-bed and gateway to a number of web sites and resources, not all of which are publicly available. ²⁾

For sending big files to me (Richard White). You'll need a user name and password from me.

You'll need an FTP client (a program for uploading files to a server). When you start your FTP program, connect to ftp.ice9.tk.

1. Try disabling and/or re-enabling Secure Boot
2. Try the Startup repair function: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/recovery-options-in-windows-31ce2444-7de3-818c-d626-e3b5a3024da5#bkmk_startup_repair&WindowsVersion=Windows_10
3. Look in the filing cabinet for a possible recovery disk
4. “If your PC won't start and you haven't created a recovery drive, download installation media and use it to restore from a system restore point or reset your PC.”:
   1. Try to “reset” your PC: “Resetting reinstalls Windows 10, but lets you choose whether to keep your files or remove them, and then reinstalls Windows. You can reset your PC from Settings, the sign-in screen, or by using a recovery drive or installation media.”
   2. If this fails, reinstall Windows

A previous mis-configuration led to this URL displaying the following page: “Taxonomic cross-mapping tools” by Chang Liu, Andrew Jones & Richard White, Cardiff University School of Computer Science & Informatics (7 September 2011). I have included it here in case someone has it bookmarked, although it is now out of date and the software it refers to may not be available.
